Amazon, Google, Wish removed neo-Nazi products

Various products of neo-Nazi and extremist white supremacists were being sold on Amazon, Google and Wish platforms. These three platforms have removed these products after the matter came up in an investigation by BBC Click.

The BBC reports that flags of extremist white supremacists, neo-Nazi books and various products of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), an organization of extremist white supremacists, were put up for sale on online platforms. The algorithms of Amazon and Wish were also advising fierce whites to buy other products.

All three companies have told the BBC they are banned from selling products that use racism on their platforms.

Oren Segal of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), an anti-hate organization, said companies should always be taught what to suggest to their algorithms. It has to be shown to be responsible.

Under the neo-Nazi flag for sale on Amazon, a reviewer wrote, it is the neo-Nazi flag. Amazon doesn’t need to make a profit by selling it. In addition, various controversial items are being sold on Amazon.

Such signs and flags were seen worn by the gunman in Christchurch, New Zealand. In that attack in 2019, 51 people were killed.

These products have yet to be removed from Amazon. Online product retailer Wish has also removed various products with the Ku Klux Klan theme. Google says all racist content has been removed from their Google Books and Play Store. They will not display any advertisements or products that spread hatred on their platform.
